Case of the Month

A prelude to summer - wines you can drink come wind, rain or shine.

Whites (2 of each)

OVUM WINES, OREGON - USA, 2017 BIG SALT
A white blend (mainly Riesling & Gewurz) made by John & Ksenija House, vibrant with orange blossom, white grapefruit and jasmine. The palate is saline, long and has a dry finish.

MARTIN & ANNA ARNDORFER, STRASSERTAL - AUSTRIA, 2016 VORGESCHMACK
Another Riesling blend but with Grüner Vetliner this time (20%/80%). It is dry with green pear, yellow apple, peach, flowers and white pepper aromas and flavours. Fresh, mineral, gently aromatic and incredibly easy drinking.

PEBBLE DEW, MARLBOROUGH - NZ, 2017 SAUVIGNON BLANC
A fine hint of citrus (lime, grapefruit) and golden kiwi on the nose. Fresh, well-balanced and round on the palate offering a rich, dense and juicy mouthfeel dominated by exotic fruits and a pleasant mineral note.

Rosé (2 of each)

CHATEAU PLAISANCE, SOUTH WEST FRANCE, 2017 FRONTON ROSE
A blend of Negrette, Syrah and Gamay with aromas of plums, vanilla and ripe spice. Very refreshing on the palate with further sweet-edged red berry flavours backed up by an excellent acidity. Refined and refreshing with a crisp yet smooth finish.

Reds (2 of each)

ANTONIO CAMILLO, TUSCANY - ITALY, 2017 ‘TUTTI I GIORNI’
Tutti I Giorni, means “everyday” and this wine does exactly what it says on the tin (label)! A blend of Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo and Alicante, in our humble opinion this wine should have been called “All Day Long” or tutto il giorno, because we want to drink it all day long!

BODEGAS VINESSENS, ALICANTE - SPAIN, 2017 ‘TRAGOLARGO’
100% Monastrell. This is an immensely drinkable version of a grape variety that can normally be so fierce. Red and dark berry fruit commingle; the palate has stuffing yet is also fresh with plenty of herbal twists for interest.
