Grape Variety: Moristel

Colour: Red

Red-wine producing grape grown in the Somontano region adjoining the central Pyrenees area of Spain. In southern Aragon it has the synonym name Juan Ibáñez. It produces light ruby red, floral, juicy red wines commonly used as a blending ingredient with uniquely regional native specialties such as Parraleta and Tempranillo.

It is a very bright ruby red with youthful aromas of dark berries (loganberries) and red flowers. The flavours and textures are reminiscent of Beaujolais or young Burgundy. Very drinkable with smooth tannins and real brightness it seems to get cooler and more refreshing with every sip. “Silky” and “tender” are adjectives that come to mind.

The Marques de Alquezar Tinto contains only 15% Moristel, has fine, juicy red cherry fruit and a lemony acidity that is highly distinctive. This would fantastically with chorizo.
