Grape Variety: Catarratto

This variety is found only in the Sicily region of southern Italy, and yet is one of the most planted white grapes in all Italy. The lower-quality Catarratto Bianco Comune is traditionally used in some Marsala blends and industrial alcohol, but can make pleasant, low-acid, dry or sweet wines. The higher-quality Catarratto Bianco Lucido may give more acidic wines, tasting of apricots and grapefruit.
