This is a traditional Sicilian grape variety and it is used in the production of the D.O.C. Faro (Sicily), often blended with other indigenous red grapes, see the Faro from Palari (Santo Stefano) in Messina, , a blend of Alcitana, Galatena, Nerello, Nocera, Cappuccio, Tignolino, and Cor’e Palumba. This wine is has a ruby colour with a hint of purple, the nose is beautifully knitted, black cherry to the fore and slightly smoky nuances shimmering in the background, it is remarkably elegant with a pleasing lack of over-ripeness.
