Viñateros! A Spanish wine revolution

“Viñateros!” is a one-day wine trade event celebrating Spanish artisan growers who work with minimal intervention in the vineyard and the winery to make authentic wines reflective of their respective regions and wine cultures.
Seven UK-based importers, including Les Caves de Pyrene, have teamed up to bring an exceptional group of winemakers to London for a groundbreaking tasting.
"This promises to be the most exciting nation-wide Spanish tasting ever held in the UK," said David Cañadas, Les Caves director and Spanish buyer.
"What makes it so exciting and original, in a Spanish context, is that the focus is entirely on the work of the best vine growers – the Viñateros – rather than championing the winery or winemaking techniques. It's all about expression of character through terroir."
The UK importers have invited 50 growers from 26 different Spanish regions to pour and present some 300 wines to sommeliers, wine buyers, restaurateurs and journalists.
Les Caves is proud to present wines from seven producers: Batlliu de Sort (pictured above), Bernabe Navarro, Comando G, Comunica, Guimaro, Recaredo/Celler Credo and Urogallo.
As well as the tasting, there will be four thought-provoking seminars exploring, among other issues, the concepts of terroir, appellation and the effects of climate change.
