October Case of the Month

Hello October - Wines to celebrate the start of autumn

Whites (2 of each)

ZORJAN, SLOVENIA  - 2013 RIESLING
An elegant wine matured in large barrels. On the nose ripe citrus fruits, apples and plums. The wine
is distinguished by an extremely pleasant acid and is mineral with beautiful fruit. The finish is long and remarkable.

DOMAINE BOTHELAND, BEAUJOLAIS - 2016 CHARDONNAY
This wine has a refined taste reminiscent of white burgundy. There is a savoury backbone to this wine and it strikes the palate with real force and a finish that stretches on and on.

DOMAINE TUE BOEUF, LOIRE - 2017 PETIT BUISSON SAUVIGNON BLANC
As with all Thierry Puzelat's whites this is pressed and decanted directly into old barrels for ageing on the lees. Tangy Sauvignon, naturally fermented – orchard fruits (green and yellow plums and cherries) with enlivening "currantiness."

Reds (2 of each)

SAN LORENZO, MARCHE - 2013 ARTU
Classic Rosso Conero balancing the powerful spiciness and black liquorice fruit of Montepulciano with the more subtle red fruits and herbal notes of Sangiovese.

BODEGAS CECCHIN, MENDOZA  - 2016 MALBEC SIN SULFITO
Intense ruby red in colour the nose is intense with spicy aromas developing into notes of violets on airing. The palate is complex with good persistence and spiciness evolving over time.

DOMAINE PIERRE CROS, MINERVOIS  - 2016 VIELLES VIGNES
The fruit may be dark but the wine is not heavy or extracted, the roasted pluminess underpinned by soothing stoniness.
