The proof is in the tasting

Had a bit of sesh at Terroirs last night and tasted a wide range of goodies.

Prosecco Frizzante, Casa Coste Piane
Daisily fresh, chalky/alum notes, conventual purity

Trebbiano Frizzante dell’Emilia, Camillo Donati
Sweet hay, warm pollen, apples sautéed in butter. Superb!

Vin de Table, Rose de Loire, Frantz Saumon
Lolly-palooza! Cherry on a stick, off dry, hint of earth

Oliver Pithon, Cuvee Lais, Cotes Catalanes
Dried fruits, dry spices, gripping minerality

Le Petit Curieux, Patrick Rols
Fizzing in the glass quinces and medlars sharply accented acidity

Domaine de Montcalmes, Coteaux du Languedoc
Cocoa butter, pureed black fruits, rich yet refined, a smoothly sashaying supermodel Languedocian

Pinot Noir Strangenberg, Pierre Frick
AKA The Strangler - redcurrant, pomegranate, brown spice, on the palate soft and supple with flavours of gravy browning, spice and cassis.

Weather: Sunny and hot – high pressure
Element: Heat
Day tasted: An “in-between” day
Assessment: The wines overall showed extra intensity as well as an exceptional minerality today.
Personal note: I was very relaxed, not at all analytical and in a mood to enjoy food and wine. When you relax the wine relaxes with you. The weather was also perfect for wine tasting - heat without humidity, the wines were poised, and volatility was not a problem at all.
