Paul rediscovers a lost wine

After a few years of abstinence (abstaining from what, Ed?) I found myself extracting the cork from a bottle of Cotes de St Mont Blanc Retrouvees 2007 (new vintage) 40% Gros Manseng 30% Courbu and 30% Arrufiac – these are the grapes used in all our dry white wines from Jurancon and Irouleguy but at a fantastic price point.

Hand selection of grapes, fermentation at 18-20C. The wine is matured in tanks on the lees, with regular stirring for a period of at least three months.

I think Doug’s very out of date tasting note in our trade list is actually not at all out of date and describes this wine perfectly ‘fresh as an iced buzz-saw’

Fantastic citrus fruit nose (crushed limes) which follows through on to the palate, incredibly juicy acidity, with a big mouth feel and smooth finish

WHO NEEDS SAUVIGNON BLANC when there are delicious wines like this to be had from our specialist region – the South West of France
